Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Where are you located?
We're based in Elk Grove, California and serve the greater Sacramento region. Travel beyond 50 miles is available and billed according to the travel policy in your agreement.
How do I secure my date?
A signed agreement and a 50% non-refundable retainer reserve your date. No other bookings are accepted during that window.
The remaining balance is due the day before your scheduled shoot.
What payment methods do you accept?
Electronic transfer, credit card, cashier's check, or cash. Credit card payments may include a processing fee.
How long does it take to receive photos?
Final edited photos are delivered within 14 days unless otherwise specified. Rush delivery may be available depending on scheduling.
Do you provide RAW images?
No. Clients receive professionally edited final images that are ready to use.
Think of RAW files as ingredients and the final photos as the finished dish.
Do you offer revisions?
Our editing style reflects a consistent professional standard. Additional editing requests beyond standard delivery may be quoted as an add-on.
How long do you keep backups?
Backups are maintained for six months after delivery. Download your gallery and keep your own copies.
Do you travel?
Yes. Events beyond 50 miles from Elk Grove are billed at the current IRS mileage rate plus 50%. Lodging may apply for multi-day projects.
Do you carry insurance?
Yes. Mad Lad Visuals carries business liability insurance and can provide proof of insurance upon request.
What happens if someone behaves inappropriately at an event?
We maintain a professional and safe working environment. If harassment or unsafe conditions occur, coverage may be terminated without refund.
Working With Mad Lad Visuals
What types of clients do you work with?
We work with businesses, organizations, and professional teams that need reliable photography for marketing, websites, and internal communication.
Common projects include corporate events, headshots, brand photography, and commercial imagery.
Why hire a professional photographer?
Your photos show up everywhere — your website, social media, marketing materials, press releases. Inconsistent or low quality images quietly undermine the credibility of everything else you've built. Professional photography fixes that.
Why is it called Mad Lad Visuals?
The name came from my son. When he was younger he used to call us "mad lads" whenever we were being adventurous or trying something new.
It stuck. We take the work seriously — but we believe good photography should have some energy and curiosity behind it.
Commercial and Product Photography
Do you photograph products or brand imagery?
Yes. We work with businesses that need professional photography for websites, marketing materials, advertising, and social media.
Do you help plan the shot list?
Yes. Most commercial projects start with a conversation about how the images will be used. From there we figure out what needs to be captured and plan accordingly.
Do you photograph at our location?
Yes. Many commercial sessions take place on location so the images reflect the real environment where your business operates.
What licensing is included?
Clients receive a usage license for website, social media, and standard marketing materials. Use beyond that—such as advertising campaigns, product packaging, or broader distribution—requires extended licensing for an additional fee. Expanded usage is not included by default and is arranged before the project begins.
Do you photograph food or restaurants?
Yes. We work with restaurants and hospitality businesses that need photography for menus, websites, marketing, and social media.
Event Photography
How much should I budget for event coverage?
Most corporate clients invest between $750 and $2,400 depending on event size, coverage length, and deliverables. Shorter events and pop-up coverage start at $350.
Every project is different — reach out and we'll put together something that fits what you actually need.
How many photos will we receive?
Most clients receive 50–100 fully edited images for standard half or full-day coverage. Smaller events and pop-ups typically receive 5–15 images depending on the scope.
What if the event runs late?
Coverage begins at the scheduled start time. If an event runs beyond the agreed window, additional coverage may be available and billed accordingly.
Will you personally photograph the event?
In most cases, yes. For larger events requiring additional coverage, Mad Lad Visuals may bring in trusted photographers who work within our standards and style.
Headshots and Team Photography
Do you photograph individuals or entire teams?
Both. Sessions can be scheduled for individuals, small teams, or larger organizations.
Can you photograph headshots at our office?
Yes. Many businesses prefer on-location headshots so employees can be photographed efficiently during the workday without disrupting operations.
Do you help with posing?
Yes. Most people aren't used to being in front of a camera and that's completely normal. We guide you through posing and expression so you look confident and natural — not stiff.
What should we wear for headshots?
Solid colors, well-fitted clothing, and outfits that match your organization's professional tone tend to photograph best. Avoid busy patterns or logos that compete with your face.
